In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Allah! There is no God but He,
the Living, the Self-subsisting, the Eternal.
No slumber can seize Him, nor sleep.
All things in heaven and earth are His.
Who could intercede in His presence without His permission?
He knows what appears in front of and behind His creatures.
Nor can they encompass any knowledge of Him except what he wills.
His throne extends over the heavens and the earth,
and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them,
He is the Highest and Most Exalted.
Did you know Ayatul Kursi is verse 255 of Surah Al-Baqarah? It is mentioned in many hadiths as being the most well known and read verse of the Qur’an, due to its content and constant reminder and being about the dhikr of Allah. The entire verse speaks of the Almighty Allah and His attributes and this is what makes it so powerful and all-knowing.
As you may or may not know we have Dunya and Akhirah. Meaning the world we live in now. And the other world for when we pass on. The unseen world that is mentioned time after time in the Holy Quran. Most of us think of only this world, but forget or astaghfirullah forget about the other world choosing to ignore it. Because maybe we think we will live forever or maybe are just scared and have little faith.
The Ayatul kursi verse seeks to protect us from such evils. Such as adultery and things that harm us in mind, body, and spirit.
What does it mean by 'seen' evils, it could mean through the actions of others. Such as other people spreading lies about you trying to ruin your reputation. What does it mean by 'Unseen' evils it could mean the whispers of shaitan or Jinn and other aspects of this world that we can not see or we may not know about.
Why is it important that we all should recite Ayatul Kursi regularly? What are the benefits of doing so?
The benefits of reciting this verse are so much it is like a bottomless ocean. But I have just highlighted out a few benefits just for you to know.
- The one who recites Ayatul Kursi every morning will be in the protection of Allah until the night.
- Whoever recites Ayatul Kursi immediately after each prescribed prayer (salah), there will be nothing standing between him and his entering Paradise except death - Prophet (PBUH).
- You can and should recite of Ayatul Kursi on behalf of those who have passed away gives light (Noor) in their graves.
- The Holy Prophet has said: If one recites Ayatul Kursi before going to sleep, Allah will send an Angel to come and look after you and protect.
These are just a few of the benefits so just imagine and if you see them all benefit us and our loved ones. Not actually for Allah, because he does not need anything from us, in fact, we need everything from him and this is a perfect example of his generosity and knowing what we need before we even know ourselves. It is amazing, that we all can’t do a small favor for ourselves. Muslims that are born as Muslims take it for granted that we have been blessed and are blinded by this world's small pleasures that we forget what we are truly missing out on. We have the perfect answer given to us a book that has oceans of knowledge yet we don’t seek it or read. We just think that we are born Muslims so it gives us a direct 1st class ticket to Jannah. No, it doesn’t a few minutes a day of reading the Quran, Namaz, and remembering our creator will benefit us, or neighbors, friends and the whole of mankind.

So let’s try step by step and not only do it in the time of Ramadan. But all year round until we die so that we don’t have regrets. Remember life is too short so what you and I can do now is better than leaving it tomorrow. Let us all follow our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
